A Year Ago Today

there's more where that came from

A year ago today I was awoken by a phone call and ended up on a plane only knowing that my husband was in a bad car accident and that he couldn't move anything below his neck. (He was in the Air Force and lived in a different city at the time.) Reflecting on the past year seems a little mind-blowing. Our lives have changed so much because of the accident, but I'm just grateful that I still have my husband who has recovered amazingly since he had surgery on his spine/neck a month after the accident. I think sometimes it's a waste of time to think, why did this happen, and just let life take you there. So today, I'm celebrating life, and I like where it's taking me.

Instances like that make us reflect on how precious life truly is. I'm happy to know that your husband has recovered so well. I wish you the best on your husbands continued recovery and on this celebration of life!

Oh wow. I am so glad you both are doing well, and I agree with you, sometimes it does feel like a waste to say "why us".....I do think it is human nature to question why the bad stuff happens, but I am so glad you are able to see how fortunate you are for your husband to survive and to be doing so well.

Congrats and enjoy your day with him. ; ) And thank him for me for his service for our country (and for my family and children).

I am so impressed by your candor this week. It took a lot of courage to share your new art and your husband's story with your readers and I'm inspired by the positive example you're setting. Congratulations on taking that leap and best wishes to both you and your husband.
