I must admit, even though I totally supported the cause, I thought TOMS weren't fashionista enough for me ... at first. I recently bought a pair while in NYC in September for FNO & LuckyFABB, because let's face it, what was I thinking wearing heels around all day around New York!?! There came a point while strolling the Upper West Side that I couldn't walk one more step. Thank goodness there was an Urban Outfitters right there, and the TOMS were calling my name. They had a fairly limited selection, so I ended up going with the classic black out of pure momentary necessity. Which is fine, black is always a good call. However, some of their new styles are pretty darn cool.
Similar to Uggs, you can hate them as much as you want for their non-cuteness, but lemmetellya, once you walk around in a pair of TOMS you'll realize why everyone wears them, especially in airports. They are so freaking comfortable, and shockingly supportive. With their cool new designs (top to bottom: Gold Metallic Woven Vegan; The Row's Hayden Classic (TOMS collaborated with MK & Ashley Olsen's brand The Row); Gilded Herringbone Classics) there are no more excuses for you to not buy some TOMS and give to a child in need. I call them my schleping shoes. Around the grocery store. When it's raining, but not enough for my rain boots. When I need to walk fast to something and I just throw my heels in my purse.
But let's get to the real point of this post now that I've said my fashion piece. What is so amazing about this company is that it is based on giving to those in need. For every pair of TOMS you buy, they give a pair to a child in need. And they aren't just stopping at shoes, now you can buy TOMS sunglasses which will provide sight for one person, either by giving them prescription eyeglasses, a medical treatment, or sight-saving surgery. (Sunglasses top to bottom: Classic 301; Classic 201; Classic 101). Get all the details about TOMS One for One™Movement here.
