FASHION TREND: Maxi Skirt

When this trend emerged just a few years ago, I was initially skeptical. Then it started to catch on and has stuck around for a few seasons. I have several now myself and I must say, they are the most comfortable things you can wear! One tip I learned from my friend Jessie is that they aren't great for going through security in an airport so consider yourself warned.

Anyway, I couldn't resist rounding up some of my favorites for you. Coral and cobalt blue seem to be favorite colors for designers and retailers, bright solids, and of course color-blocking maxis. There are also some gorgeous patterns out there that make my heart pitter patter. Even though my husband jokes with me and calls them my Amish skirts I could fill my closet with them. They are so easy to wear. Throw on your favorite long-sleeve tee, V-neck tee or tank (tuck it in), add a statement necklace and you are done. You can wear flats or heels depending on the length, whether you are trying to dress it up or down, and how coordinated you are... I have stepped on mine a few times. Above is a splurge Yigal Azrouƫl Pleated Silk Crepe Skirt in an emerald green.

I have fallen in love with maxi skirts - I love the long flowy pleated ones because they look so feminine and etheral...these are all such great picks, it's hard to choose a favorite! :)

I just bought my FIRST maxi skirt yesterday and am super excited to try out the trend. I prefer simple, solid color that is long and flowing and can go with anything.

I love them all!! I just bought another maxi 2 days ago to add to my collection. I'd say my best purchase in a long time is my black BCBG maxi. I wear it with so many different tops - and I love putting on a black tank and it gives the illusion its a black maxi dress. Great option when traveling too - so versatile! -Boo

They really are man-repelling skirts, aren't they? haha

I finally gave into the trend and bought one recently. If you're looking for a plain black or bright orange maxi, check out AnnTaylor Loft. I think it's only $69.95, and you know they always have crazy sales.

I like the green one!. It is a trend here in Argentina too. But i´m not sure about them because of the weather. Cold days has been started. For me they are more hot weather...

Ah! I've been coveting that Tibi arizona print maxi since I saw it appear on Shopbop. But my short status means I'll have to hem, and I hate to do that. Love all of your selections!
